Nancy J. Parisi Social Documentation Photography in beautiful Buffalo, New York.
crafted by photobiz

Hi, I'm Nancy, a full-time photographer and journalist based in Buffalo, New York, sought after locally and nationally for my artful style in editorial and creative assignments. I love what I do. People ask me when I knew what I wanted as a career and the answer is simple: at age seven, when I borrowed my dad’s camera and wrote poetry in his office on the back of calendar samples he had for a side hustle selling promotional materials. I’d use the sleek white paper with vivid nature scenes, or religious art reproductions on the other side.
I’m an urban pioneer based in the historic Old First Ward, and have a positive, can-do attitude. New and repeat clients frequently mention how they like working with me for my calm demeanor, creativity, and pleasant business style. As a trusted photo professional, I've been documenting and delivering happiness via beautiful pixels and well-used adjectives for decades. In 2016 my business became a New York State-certified Woman-owned Business Enterprise (WBE) and is listed on the NYS MWBE Directory: as a WBE partner, my expertise and designation helps your company – or organization – meet your contract goals. I studied with incredible mentors at University at Buffalo (I was an honors English Literature major with minors in Photography, and Arts Management). At Parsons School of Design in Manhattan I earned a Master of Fine Arts – part of the school's first-ever M.F.A. photography class of thirteen grad students.
Since 2018 I have been working in the cinematic world as a Set Photographer making stills, galleries (portraits of lead actors in the movie), and behind-the-scenes images. In this role I get to be both a creative and a journalist, making images capturing storylines and selling movies.
As a regular contributor to publications and websites that are all things Buffalo – Buffalo News, University at Buffalo, Visit Buffalo Niagara, and Buffalo Spree Magazine – I’m always in the electric flow of the 716. For Visit Buffalo Niagara I make portraits in words + photos of community leaders and I created the popular 716 Transformers series about people making a difference. For The Buffalo News I pitch lifestyle stories and, when they ran them, I reviewed concerts for many years in a style that readers loved – photographic (imagine that!) encapsulations and band-focused, creative assessments. I've won awards for photography and writing and was a recipient of Buffalo Business First's 40 Under Forty award.
